About Revolut India

Revolut has taken longer to open in India than almost anywhere else it operates. The British fintech holds an RBI prepaid payment instrument licence alongside forex authorisation, and it built a separate localised stack for the market rather than porting the global app across.

Through mid-2026 the India product was still in controlled rollout, a waitlist in the hundreds of thousands with only a slice of it onboarded. The proposition is a UPI handle and a domestic wallet sitting next to international spending in one app, which no incumbent here quite matches.

If Revolut India isn't working

Start with the live status above Heavy reports mean sitting tight. On a product still rolling out, though, a quiet map alongside your own app failing usually points to your account rather than to an outage.
Check whether your account is active Being on the waitlist is not the same as having access. If onboarding has not completed, the app will open but most functions stay closed.
Card or UPI payment failing Try the other method before assuming the app is down. A card authorisation problem and a UPI problem come from completely different systems.
Freeze the card if anything looks wrong An unrecognised transaction is worth freezing the card over immediately from the app, then reporting on the published phone line.
Update to the current build The India app is changing quickly during rollout, and an old version is a common cause of a login that will not complete.

Use another UPI app Your bank account is reachable from any UPI app on the phone, so a transfer still goes out while this one is unavailable.
Use in-app chat rather than waiting Chat support runs every day of the year and is the fastest channel, provided the app itself will open.
Carry a second card With the India product still settling, a backup card from another issuer is sensible for anything time critical.

The India product has been opening gradually to a waitlist, so an account that has not been activated yet, or a feature not switched on for your region, produces errors that resemble an outage. Genuine outages tend to hit UPI or card authorisation.

Probably not. Access has been going out in batches rather than to everyone at once, so the app can install and open while the account itself is not live. There is nothing to fix at your end and nobody can move you up the queue.

It is a separate localised build rather than the international app with a rupee setting. That is also why support runs on India specific addresses and why some features you may have read about elsewhere are not present here.
