About Ration Card
Ration cards under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) are issued by each state, but the national picture sits on nfsa.gov.in, the NFSA portal of the Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD), Government of India. It links every state's ration card portal, lists fair price shops (FPS) and district food offices, and takes grievances.
At the ration shop, grain is given against an ePoS machine that checks the card holder's Aadhaar. Under One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC), a card holder can collect grain from any fair price shop in the country. The Mera Ration app shows the card, the monthly entitlement, past transactions and the nearest shop.

Clean and retry the fingerprint A dry or dirty finger can fail the Aadhaar check even when the server is fine. Wipe the finger and the scanner, then try another finger.

Check your Aadhaar is linked The card holder's Aadhaar must be linked to the ration card for the machine to accept it. Your state food department or the shop can check this.

Update Mera Ration Install the latest Mera Ration 2.0 app from the Play Store and log in again.

Try another fair price shop Under One Nation One Ration Card, your card works at any NFSA ration shop, so you can try another shop's machine.

District food and supply office For a card that is blocked, missing members or not issued, the district food office is the place to go. The NFSA portal lists these offices.

Questions
This page checks nfsa.gov.in and collects reports from card holders. Ration shops run on each state's own system, so check whether the reports come from your state. Reports from many states together point to a national problem.
At the shop, the ePoS machine must reach the state's server and check your Aadhaar before the dealer can give grain. A server problem on the ration machine means one of these steps failed, so the machine cannot complete the sale. Try again after some time or use another fair price shop under One Nation One Ration Card.

Update to the latest Mera Ration 2.0 app from the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and log in again; it needs Android 10 or later. If login says your Aadhaar does not match, the Aadhaar linked to your ration card may differ, so ask your state food department or ration shop to check it. If the app fails for many people at once, the fault is on the app's side, and your state ration card portal shows the same card.
Install Mera Ration App by the National Informatics Centre from Google Play; the Food Department's IMPDS portal also links to it. After login it shows your ration card, monthly entitlement, past transactions and nearby fair price shops, and it lets you file and track grievances.
