About Paytm Payments Bank
Paytm Payments Bank Limited (PPBL) is no longer a working bank. Its RBI licence was cancelled with effect from 24 April 2026, and a Delhi High Court order of 8 July 2026 put it into winding up. A court-appointed Official Liquidator now runs the bank and will settle what depositors and creditors are owed.
PPBL held the savings accounts, wallets, FASTags and NCMC cards behind the Paytm app. On the RBI's direction it had already closed its accounts and wallets to fresh money in March 2024. Its app is not available, and the website now carries the winding-up notices and FAQs.
The Paytm app itself belongs to a different company, One97 Communications, which keeps operating.

Shut down, not down temporarily. The RBI cancelled its banking licence with effect from the close of business on 24 April 2026, and the High Court of Delhi has since ordered the bank wound up. It is not an outage and the service is not coming back.
The bank has shut, so nothing will come back online. PPBL stopped taking new deposits and top-ups after 15 March 2024 on the RBI's direction, and its licence was cancelled on 24 April 2026. Its app is not available now. What remains is the refund of balances through the Official Liquidator.
You do not need to file a claim. The bank's notice says every depositor's claim is deemed already filed, covering wallets, FASTags, NCMC cards, savings accounts and other deposits. Its 31 July 2026 update says balances are being reconciled, KYC is being checked so money goes to the right person, and an automated claim process is being built. Deposits are covered by DICGC insurance up to the legal limit.
No. The bank's own safety note says do not pay any person for processing claims, and PPBL will never ask for an OTP or password. Updates come only through its website, public notices, SMS and email. The Paytm Payments Bank contact page gives the liquidator's mailbox.

No, creditors are a separate track. The notice of 30 July 2026 asked vendors and other creditors to submit claims through the bank's clearance desk by 29 August 2026. Secured creditors file in the prescribed format within the liquidator's timeline. Watch the bank's website for any later notice.
