About INSPIRE Scholarship
Students who score in the top 1% of their Class XII board and study basic sciences can win the INSPIRE Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE), worth Rs 80,000 a year. It is part of INSPIRE, Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research, run by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Science and Technology.
Applications, offer letters, performance reports and the INSPIRE Fellowship and Faculty Fellowship all run on online-inspire.gov.in. The INSPIRE-MANAK award for school students has a separate portal.

Upload everything together DST wants the performance report and all mark sheets in one go, not in parts.

Get the right signature Performance reports must be signed by the principal, vice-chancellor, registrar or dean, not a head of department.

Ask your college office Your principal or registrar signs the endorsement and performance forms, so start there while the portal is down.

Use the SBI branch for bank issues Payment needs an Aadhaar-linked savings account at State Bank of India. Any SBI branch can open or fix it.

Our status card shows the latest result of our check on online-inspire.gov.in, together with reports from scholars and applicants. When many students report at once, the fault lies with the INSPIRE portal, not your phone or laptop.
Logins, new applications, offer letters and performance report uploads all run on one DST portal, online-inspire.gov.in. If it fails for many students at once, wait and try again outside peak hours.

- Top 1% in your Class XII board exam
- A JEE rank or a top-10,000 medical entrance rank
- KVPY, NTSE or JBNSTS scholars, or International Olympiad medallists
Rs 80,000 a year: Rs 5,000 a month (Rs 60,000) plus a Rs 20,000 mentorship grant for a summer research project.
DST pays it by Direct Benefit Transfer into a savings account in the scholar's own name at State Bank of India, linked to Aadhaar. Joint accounts and other banks are not accepted.
- Class XII and Class X mark sheets
- Endorsement certificate signed by your principal or registrar
- Rank or award certificate, if you apply through JEE, NEET, KVPY, NTSE, JBNSTS or an Olympiad
Performance report aur mark sheet approve hone ke baad DST ko scholarship release karne mein aam taur par 3-4 mahine lagte hain. Pehli baar do saal ka paisa, yaani Rs 1,20,000, second year mein aata hai. Paanch mahine baad bhi na aaye to [email protected] par likhein.
DST holds a scholarship back for three reasons.
- The performance report or mark sheets were not uploaded
- Marks fell below 60%, or GPA below 7.0, in the first attempt
- M.Sc. enrolment was not reported
