About Income Tax AIS
The Annual Information Statement (AIS) shows what the Income Tax Department has on record about you for a financial year: TDS and TCS, transactions reported by banks and other entities (SFT), advance and self-assessment tax paid, refunds, salary details, foreign remittances and even GST turnover. It sits on the department's Compliance Portal, ais.insight.gov.in, which you reach from the e-Filing portal.
AIS also carries the Taxpayer Information Summary (TIS), the figures used to pre-fill your ITR. If a figure is wrong, you can give feedback on it, and the department checks it with the source that reported it.

See if other taxpayers report AIS If many taxpayers are reporting AIS at once, the portal is down. Try again after some time.

Fix the e-Filing login first AIS opens from your e-Filing dashboard. If you cannot log in to incometax.gov.in, sort that out before you try AIS.

PDF asks for a password Type your PAN in small letters, then your date of birth as ddmmyyyy, all together with no space.

JSON file shows nothing The JSON download is meant for the AIS utility, which is under the Resources section. For reading on a phone, download the PDF.

Not sure your feedback went through Open Activity History on the AIS homepage. Every feedback you submit gets an Activity ID there.

Look at the AIS status card on this page and the taxpayer reports next to it. Many reports together mean the Compliance Portal is down. For a single failure, check your e-Filing login and browser.
AIS opens only through the e-Filing portal. If e-Filing login fails, or the Proceed step to the Compliance Portal does not load, AIS will not open either.
Load is the other cause. Traffic climbs in the ITR season, when lakhs of people check AIS before they file.
- Click Annual Information Statement (AIS) on the dashboard. Or go to e-File, then Income Tax Return, then View AIS.
- Click Proceed. You move to the AIS portal.
- Click the AIS tile to see your statement.

Your PAN in lower case followed by your date of birth as ddmmyyyy, with no space. For PAN AAAAA1234A and birth date 21 January 1991, the password is aaaaa1234a21011991. A company or firm uses its date of incorporation or formation instead.
Give feedback on it. Click the entry, choose the option in the Feedback column, pick the reason and submit.
The department takes it up with the bank or other source that reported it. Both the reported value and the modified value then show in AIS, and you get an acknowledgement by email and SMS. There is no limit on how many times you change your feedback.
Form 26AS, the Annual Tax Statement on TRACES, now shows only TDS and TCS. AIS shows that plus the other information reported about you, such as SFT entries from banks, tax payments, refunds and foreign remittances. AIS also lets you give feedback on each entry.
