About eShram

eShram is the national database of unorganised sector workers, run by the Ministry of Labour and Employment. Construction labour, street vendors, domestic workers, farm hands and gig workers register here with Aadhaar and get an eShram card carrying a Universal Account Number.

The point of the database is to give this workforce, which has no employer records, a way to be reached by welfare schemes. The portal now works as a single window pointing to several such schemes. Registrations surge whenever a new benefit gets linked to eShram, since that turns the card into a requirement rather than an option.

Keep your Aadhaar-linked mobile ready eShram uses an Aadhaar OTP, so keep the linked mobile handy and wait a minute for the code before requesting a new one.
Try off-peak The portal is busiest when a new benefit is linked to eShram. Trying early morning or late night is usually smoother.
Use a Common Service Centre A nearby CSC can complete eShram registration or updates when the portal is not loading for you.
Do not pay anyone for registration eShram is free. Ignore agents or numbers asking for money or your OTP to register.
