Is it Tuesday maintenance? Valve does weekly maintenance on Tuesday evenings US time. If so, it is brief, so wait it out.
Store not loading or download stuck? Clear the download cache, change the download region to a nearer server, and restart the client.
Don't buy during an outage A purchase made during an outage may not deliver, so wait until Steam is stable before buying.
Check the live status above A spike, often global, means it is Steam, not you.

Play single player games in Offline mode Steam's Go Offline lets you launch games you own without the servers, as long as you were logged in before.
