About WazirX

WazirX is one of India's best known crypto exchanges, and its recent story is unusual. In July 2024 it lost about 235 million dollars in a hack and suspended trading, then went through a court supervised restructuring in Singapore.

Trading restarted in October 2025 after the Singapore High Court approved the scheme, with funds moved to BitGo custody and Recovery Tokens issued to affected users for the shortfall. The platform today handles spot and futures trading in Bitcoin, Ethereum and a few hundred other tokens through its app and website.

Crypto trades around the clock, so its busiest moments are sharp global price swings rather than any fixed hour. Gains are taxed at 30 percent in India with 1 percent TDS on trades.
