DGFT (Directorate General of Foreign Trade) handles the Importer-Exporter Code, licences and foreign-trade scheme applications, and runs its own helpdesk and email for these. The DGFT official contacts are listed here so exporters and their consultants reach the directorate directly.

DGFT helpline — questions

The DGFT EDI helpdesk runs on 1800-572-1550 and 1800-111-550. Both cover IEC, licence, export scheme and portal queries, and there is an EPABX line on 011-23061562 for the headquarters.
Yes, both EDI helpdesk numbers are toll-free. The 011-23061562 EPABX line is an ordinary Delhi landline and is charged at your normal rate.

No. Only the prescribed government fee on the portal applies. Consultants may charge for their own services, but no extra payment is needed to obtain or update an IEC, and no official will ask for one.
